Drumlanrig Castle and Estate- Dumfries and Galloway

We went somewhere new today, when we drove up to the car park there was this huge house at the end of the road, how much fun would it be to run around in there.
It was snowing today too,and it was cold but that didn't stop us.Mum chose the walk for us as she said there were a few to chose from, the one we did went past 3 lochs and along some forest roads, mum thought she had got lost at one point, that was funny.
The lochs were all frozen over, luckily we are not the sort of dogs to go on ice.
Mum said we will come back soon to do the other walks, that will be really good.

Glencaple- Dumfries and Galloway

We went to one of our favourite places today, down on the estuary,it was good as there had been some high tides and they had left a load of stuff for us to sniff and roll in,we both had a roll in what was left of a seagull, and Craven even found the remains of a sheep.!!
We saw our friend the border terrier in it's garden by the river so we went to say hello, and we met a yorkshire terrier but it wouldn't say hello,it was a bit shy.
It was cold today and quite misty, the hill that mum said she is going to take us up soon had snow on the top.!

Ae Forest -Dumfries & Galloway

Woo hoo it was snowing when we set off,I hurt my leg,I was running around through the trees and then I landed funny and it hurt.So mum said we should go back to the car.
But when she got there mum put Craven in the car and then said to me lets us go a walk on our own.!!
So we went on a different path to normal right next to the river,we went over a bridge and then through some more woods and then came back along the road,it was great and I behaved myself and didn't run and hide from mum.We were out on our own for over an hour.
Then when we got back mum took Craven a walk on his own while I sat in the car.
My walk wasn't as good as Flint's though as I had to stay on my lead because of my sore leg.

River walk and Crichton royal farm - Kingholm Quay - Dumfries

We went out this morning to see if the sheep were still in the fields,as if they weren't mum said we could go off lead, but they were there still, they have moved to a different field but mum said we could still get to them.

Hopefully they will move away soon though.

Mum saw some deer across the river but we couldn't see them.

Tuesday 24 January 2012

Kirkconnell flow - Dumfries

What a horrible wet day,but that didn't stop us having fun.!!!

We were running round the forest for 4 hours,we were playing chase and we were also following deer scents,we even saw a couple of deer.

As it was very wet mum didn't get many good photo's,so here is one of me,Flint,in the woods, and one of Craven fight at the end of the walk when he was very tired.

Sunday 22 January 2012

Dalbeattie Forest - Dumfries & Galloway

We hadn't been to this place for ages, and we went on a different route than normal,it took us quite high up.
We saw lots and lots of dogs today as it was a nice day,we wanted to say hello to them all but some didn't want to speak to us.!
There were some that were on lead like us so they must be naughty too.

On the way home as it was still nice we stopped off at the park on the way home and had a walk along the river at Kingholm Quay and met a load more dogs.

Saturday 21 January 2012

Heathhall forest - Dumfries

Flint had only been on part of this walk before so I got to show him the rest of it,I showed him where all the good smells were and we tried to get mum to go on all these little paths that we could see,but she said they were deer tracks, hello, why did she think we wanted to go down them.
But she said we were surrounded by lots of busy roads and she didn't want us getting hurt,so we had to stay on the lead.
I bet there were hundreds of deer in there, you could smell them everywhere.
We went as far as the old quarry and mum said that some men must have been working there as the pond at the bottom is much bigger, can't wait for the summer to go in there.

Castle wood -Caerlaverock Castle -Dumfries and Galloway

Mum said we were only going a short walk today after all that running around yesterday, but we were still out for nearly 2 hours.
We went to a wood near a big castle, there were lovely views across the estuary and on a clear day mum says you can see the Lake District fells, not today though.
But across the water there is a big hill called Criffel and mum says that when she is fit enough she will take us up there, right to the top,she says there are fantastic views up there, she hasn't been up there for a long time and can't wait to take us up there.
There are some pictures of Criffel in our photo's.

Tuesday 17 January 2012

Kirkconnell flow - Dumfries

As we had not been off our leads for ages, mum said we could go to the big woods today,we saw lots of dogs,a spaniel a terrier and lots of Labradors.

We saw a deer too,we usually only smell them but this time we saw one, they are huge.Craven started to chase it but mummy blew her whistle and shouted a few times and Craven came back.!!!!

The ground was hard after the last few cold days, but it wasn't that cold today, not frosty.we were out for over 3 hours today, running round, fantastic.

Monday 16 January 2012

Nunholm - Dumfries

Brrrrr it was very cold this morning, everywhere was white and it made a crunchy sound when you walked on it.

We just went down for a walk by the river today,we didn't go in though as it was too cold.We saw a lot of ducks, and we only saw one other dog,it must have been too cold for other dogs.

Mummy took lots of pictures as usual, but when we got home she said there must be something wrong with the camera thing as she only managed to get a few pictures off it,when she knows she took loads.

Saturday 14 January 2012

Southerness beach - Dumfries and Galloway

Woohoo today we went to the seaside, there were lots of different smells there,we couldn't smell deer there so I don't think they go to the seaside. There was stuff called seaweed that stunk, but it had all sorts of good things caught up in it.Mum kept trying to get us to walk on the sand, but that was boring for us,nothing to smell,we wanted to go to the grass and seaweedy bits as they were much more interesting.
There were rock pools,Flint had a drink from one of them, you should have seen his face,he didn't realise that water tastes funny at the seaside.
It was a lovely day,the sun was shining.
Then on the way home we stopped off at a park where there were lots of dogs,Craven got to play with his friend Ryan who is a flat coated retriever.

Friday 13 January 2012

The Hills - Dumfries

Mum surprised us today,we went to a place we normally go,but then when we were halfway round we went on a different path,we have seen it before but never gone on it.It was a steep path that went uphill for a long way,we had to pull mum up the very steep bits though.
When we got to the top we could see for miles,we could nearly see our house.
We walked across the top bit which was flat, but when we started going down again mum kept telling us to go slow as it was slippy for her,we were ok as our feet are better on slippy things than her boots are.
That was a really good walk and I hope we get to do that one again.

Thursday 12 January 2012

River walk & Crichton Royal farm Kingholm Quay Dumfries.

We were supposed to go a big walk today, but mum says she has to go into work today as someone is off sick (again) so she took us on this walk.We normally go offlead here but mum said we can't today as there are sheep in the fields,we said we didn't mind and we would not bother them, but she said that she doesn't trust us.!!!!!!

It was still really good though, the sun was shining and there was lots of mud to run through.

Tuesday 10 January 2012

Eskrigg nature reserve - Lockerbie

Well we were back on our leads again, mummy said it was because it was too big in there and she was scared we would get lost as Flint has only been there once before,we still had fun though. We could smell deer again them things get everywhere.!
It rained all the time but we didn't mind as we were having a great time,I don't think mum had as much fun as us she kept slipping on the mud and tree roots and things and her camera thing kept getting wet,but she still managed to get some pictures of us.
There was a duck pond there and we went to have a look at the ducks, but they moved to the other side of the pond when they saw us coming.

Saturday 7 January 2012

Kirkconnell flow - Dumfries

Wow what a great day,the sun was shining and mummy let us off our leads.!!!!!

We went to that place where we got lost last year, but we are brave and we know now if we stick with mummy we won't get lost.
We went all round the path, running off into the woods,we kept checking mummy was still there and then we would run off again, everytime we went back to mummy she gave us a piece of cheese, how great is that.
When we were nearly at the car mummy said,it's a nice day,do you want to go round again.?So off we went again, fantastic.
We were running around for 3 hours,we are home now,we have just had a beef bone and now we are going to sleep.

Wednesday 4 January 2012

Ae forest - Dumfries and Galloway

What a horrible day,it was raining really heavy all the time we were walking and it was windy too,we didn't really mind though.
It was a strange walk really all the way there mum kept saying something about a dog that had got lost in the woods and we were going to help look for him,the only thing was when we got there she never let us off our leads, what were we supposed to do.
All the way round the walk mum was blowing her whistle and calling out Oscar must have been something to do with the missing dog,we never saw any dogs though.Lots of smells of Deer though,we really wanted to be off our leads so we could run and run.
We were out for just over 2 hours in the pouring rain,we were quite glad to see the car when we got back.

Glencaple Dumfries & Galloway 2nd January 2012

Glencaple

This is one of our favourite walks but because it's near a road we have to stay on our leads, but we get to walk along the river, today was a lovely day the sun was shining but it was quite cold,so we had to keep pulling mum along to keep warm.
When we got to the far end a dog,a Labrador I think came running out of it's garden to come and see us,she was lovely and friendly and wanted to play,so did we,she ran away for us to chase,so we did,but when we turned round mummy was on the floor,we had pulled her over,we went over to see if she was ok,and she muttered something about her knee, not sure what she was talking about really, but she did say some very naughty words.
We then walked back the same way back to the car,we were walking for nearly 2 and a half hours.

Mabie forest - Dumfries 1st January 2012

Today we went for a long walk in Mabie Forest, the weather was lovely, the sun was shining and we only had one shower.
We were walking for over 2 hours and walked nearly 5 miles. We were both on our long leads but it didn't stop our fun,we had lots to smell,we could smell Deer and other animals and lots of other dogs,we only met one other dog though a little puppy,it was scared of us.
